Cabernet Sauvignon

Alexander Valley, Sonoma County

2021

Wine Spots Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon captures the power and complexity of this famed region. The mountain vineyards, planted in loam soil, are showcased in this bold, full-bodied wine. Rich, dark fruit aromas dominate the nose. On the palate, a robust structure is defined by dark fruit and bing cherry flavors. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak, leading to well-integrated, firm tannins and an elegant, long finish.

The Vineyards

The 2021 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon showcases mountain vineyard fruit at its finest. The mountain vineyard, planted in the northern most part Alexander Valley, receives more sun exposure as the fog line burns off during the day, developing grapes with thicker skins that add color, flavor and structure. The rocky, loam mountain soils slows down maturation, leading to classic dark fruit aromas and bold tannic structure.

Food Pairings

Alexander Valley, California

Alexander Valley’s combination of microclimates, topography and soil types has made it one of the most prestigious Cabernet Sauvignon growing regions in Sonoma County. Located in the upper northern part of Sonoma County, Alexander Valley benefits from the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean and the protective shelter of the Mayacamas Mountain Range. The rocky, volcanic and sedimentary soils create a deep aquifer that is replenished during the wet, cold winter months. These soils provide moisture throughout the dry, hot summer days, supporting the vines and allowing the fruit to mature at a steady rate.
